Ha habido tantos proyectos musicales maravillosos en mi vida que me moldearon y me dieron experiencia que no me sentaba bien dejar la pagina sin un rincón para recordarlos. No puedo nombrarlos a todos sin aburrir al lector, pero haré algunas menciones especiales y espero que me perdonen los que omito.
Empezando desde el principio, tengo que dar un saludo a mi banda de rock de la escuela secundaria “ADN”, solíamos tocar en el garaje del baterista y al principio, no teníamos ni micrófono, así que me colocaba de cara a en una esquina del cuarto e intentaba escucharme, pero pronto nos encontramos tocando para una gran audiencia en un concurso escolar a nivel nacional (The Rock y Tiza) y compartimos el mismo escenario que Café Tacuba.
Luego vino una banda de covers de funk y disco llamada “The Funktastic band” en Tenerife, éramos tres cantantes y fue !una maravilla! Tocamos en distintas islas, hoteles y grandes conciertos públicos, e incluso un especial de año nuevo para TV.
Mientras vivía en Los Ángeles tuve la oportunidad de estar en una banda de Metal por un período corto llamada “Season of the locus”, una punk llamada “bad incidente” con la que incluso hicimos un video musical, luego el baterista y yo fuimos juntos a “Thunder minx” una banda de rock con la que tocamos en algunos lugares conocidos de la ciudad. Por esa misma época comencé a tocar con “The cassette syndicate” una banda de versiones de temas de los 80 y 90 con un gran y largo repertorio que me dio la oportunidad de seguir puliendo mis técnicas autodidactas a través de la imitación.
Regresé a las islas un poco más tarde en la vida y pronto me involucré con dos bandas de covers simultáneamente, Molen House y Manifold, la segunda fundada hace más de 20 años por miembros del observatorio espacial aquí en la isla y con quien todavía toco a veces. Finalmente, llego a un proyecto muy prometedor llamado “Syrinxoare” que tiene su propia sección aquí en mi página.
Todas estas bandas significaron mucho en mi desarrollo y pasión por la música. Todavía sigo en contacto con la mayoría de los músicos y he formado grandes amistades. A todos los proyectos musicales pasados y los que están por venir: gracias por ser parte de mi historia.
There have been so many wonderful musical projects in my life that shaped me and gave me experience that it did not feel good leaving the site without a corner to remember them. I can’t possibly name all of them without getting the reader bored, but I will make a few special mentions and hope that ill be forgiven for any I leave out.
Starting from the very beginning I have to give a shout out to my high-school rock band “ADN”, we used to play in the drummer`s garage and at the very beginning, I did not have a microphone so I faced a corner of the room and tried t hear myself, soon enough we were playing for a huge audience in a nationwide school contest (The Rock and Tiza) and shared the same scenario than Cafe Tacuba.
Then it came a funk and disco cover band called “The Funktastic band” in Tenerife, we were three singers and it was a blast! we played on different islands, hotels and in big public concerts, and even a new year special for TV.
While living in LA I had the chance to be on a Metal band for a short period called “Season of the locus”, a punk one called “bad incident” with whom we even made a music video, then the drummer and I went together to “Thunder minx” a rock band with whom we play in a few known spots in the city. Around the same time, I started to play with “The cassette syndicate” a cover band of ’80s and ´90s songs with a great and long repertoire that gave me the opportunity to continue to polish my self-taught techniques through imitation.
I came back to the islands a bit later in life and soon got involved with two garage cover bands simultaneously, Molen House and Manifold, the second founded over 20 years ago by members of the space observatory here on the island and with whom I still play sometimes. Finally, it came to a very promising project called “Syrinxoare” which has its own section here on my page.
All of these bands meant a great deal in my development and passion for music. I still keep in contact with most of the musicians and have formed some great friendships. To all of the past musical projects and those yet to come: thank you for being part of my story.
