Este último año tan atípico nos dejó muchos desafíos, y durante meses pudimos experimentar la necesidad real que la mayoría de nosotros tenemos de consumir arte para nuestra salud mental y emocional. Los eventos culturales, los conciertos y cualquier otra aglomeración de personas estuvieron prohibidos durante meses y esto nos dejó hambrientos por cualquiera de estas expresiones. Por eso, cuando nos ofrecieron, como The Awara Quartet, a ser literalmente los primer en tocar un concierto al aire libre aquí en la isla después del confinamiento, y en una fecha tan especial como el solsticio de verano y el día internacional de la música, quedamos absolutamente encantados y profundamente honrados.
El equipo de la sección cultural del Ayuntamiento de Los Llanos de Aridane trabajó a la perfección para llevar a buen puerto este concierto tan especial y mantener al público seguro y capaz de asistir en persona. Para aquellos que no pudieron venir debido a la distancia o simplemente porque los asientos se agotaron temprano, tuvimos Sixty Media transmitiendo en vivo (que nos brindó el video de excelente calidad que pueden ver arriba) y la gente de MolineteSound quienes aportaron su experiencia en el área técnica y con los cuales siempre es un gran placer trabajar. Charo Gonzales fue la fuerza impulsora detrás del evento y tengo que agradecerle personal y sinceramente por todo su arduo trabajo y por mantener su enfoque en traer gran calidad y variedad al prisma cultural de la isla.
Todos estaban tan emocionados y felices de estar allí que la energía se podía sentir con fuerza. Algunas personas incluso se pusieron de pie y empezaron a bailar y otras vitorearon incluso desde fuera del parque. Fue refrescante y espero de verdad que podamos volver a compartir las artes en persona y sin miedos muy pronto.
This last very atypical year left us with many challenges, and for months we were able to experience the real need most of us have to consume arts for our mental and emotional health. Cultural events, concerts, and any other agglomeration of people were prohibited for months and it left us starved for any of these expressions. Therefore, when we were offered, as The Awara Quartet, to literally be the ones to play the first open-air concert of the island after the confinement, and on such special date such as summer solstice and the international day of music, we were absolutely delighted and deeply honored.
The crew of the cultural section of the Ayuntamiento of Los Llanos de Aridane worked flawlessly to bring this very special concert to fruition and to keep the public feeling safe and able to assist in person. For those who were not able to come due to distance or just because of the fact that the seats were sold out early, we had Sixty Media broadcasting live (which provided us with the excellent quality video you can watch above) and the people of MolineteSound provided their expertise in the technical area, making it always such a great pleasure to work with them. Charo Gonzales was the driving force behind the event and I have to personally and sincerely thank her for all her hard work and for keeping her focus on bringing great quality and variety to the cultural prism of the island.
Everybody was so excited and happy to be there that the energy could be felt strongly. Some people even stood up and started to dance and others were cheering even from outside the park. It was refreshing, and I hope that we can go back to share the arts in person without fears very soon.
